ISSUE 1 2026
LETTER FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
Dear Valued Member
We’re pleased to bring you the latest edition of WiseUp Namibia, your official Member newsletter.
Since our previous edition, we’ve seen more Members reaching out earlier for legal advice, asking the right questions and making better use of their benefits before situations escalate. That’s exactly what LegalWise Namibia is here for—to guide you early, support you when it matters and protect what is important to you.
Behind the scenes, we’ve continued to strengthen our services. From expanding access to legal support across Namibia, to improving our digital platforms, our focus remains the same: ensuring that when you need help, you receive it quickly, professionally and with real results.
This edition builds on that progress.
It shows not just what we offer—but what we do for our Members when they are under pressure and need support the most.
In this edition, you will discover:
- A powerful real Member story – showing how we helped prevent vehicle repossession
- Membership Updates – important information about your premium and what it means for your cover
- Know Your Rights – what to expect when facing a disciplinary hearing
- Digital Updates – easier ways to access legal help anytime
- Frequently Asked Questions – clear answers to everyday legal concerns
- Branch & Service Updates – how we continue to expand access across Namibia
What you’ll see throughout this newsletter is simple:
When our Members face challenges, we don’t step back—we step in.
Because without the right legal support, many people feel overwhelmed, uncertain and alone. They accept outcomes they shouldn’t have to accept.
With LegalWise Namibia, that doesn’t have to happen.
We are here to stand with you, guide you and act for you—so that when life takes an unexpected turn, you can say with confidence:
“DON’T TALK TO ME, TALK TO MY LAWYER.”
Thank you for being part of the LegalWise Namibia family.
Warm regards

Alexandria Amoo
General Manager and Principal Officer

Real Member Story
From the Brink of Repossession to Relief
What started as a manageable vehicle finance agreement quickly turned into a nightmare for our Member, Mr Shipanga (not his real name).
Falling Behind — and the Pressure Mounts
After missing three instalments on his vehicle loan with his bank, the arrears quickly grew to approximately N$ 17,000.
Then came the call no vehicle owner wants to receive—the bank advised that the account was in default and repossession was now a real possibility.
With no court documents yet served, the uncertainty made things even worse. At any moment, he feared he could lose his vehicle.
A Call for Help at the Critical Moment
Feeling overwhelmed and unsure of his rights, Mr Shipanga reached out to LegalWise Namibia for urgent assistance.
Time was critical.
Swift Action, Strong Representation
Our Legal Counsellor immediately opened a file and took decisive action. A strongly worded letter was sent to the bank, requesting an opportunity for the Member to recover financially and urging the bank to hold off on legal escalation.
Turning the Tide
That intervention changed everything.
The bank agreed to pause further action and entered into negotiations. Mr Shipanga was given a lifeline—time to settle his arrears, with a clear deadline.
The Moment of Truth
With pressure mounting, he honoured his commitment and settled the full outstanding amount within the agreed timeframe.
Crisis Averted, Dignity Restored
The result?
- No repossession
- No legal action
- No debt collectors
Just a resolved matter—and peace of mind restored.
Why This Matters
Situations like this can escalate quickly. Without legal support, many people lose assets simply because they don’t know their rights or how to respond.
With LegalWise Namibia, you don’t have to face that alone. We step in early, take action and help turn difficult situations around.
Know Your Rights: Facing a Disciplinary Hearing in Namibia
Facing a Disciplinary Hearing in Namibia
Being called to a disciplinary hearing can be stressful—but understanding your rights can make all the difference.
In Namibia, workplace discipline is governed by the Labour Act (Act 11 of 2007). Employers must follow both substantive fairness and procedural fairness.
You have the right to:
- Clear charges
- Time to prepare
- Representation
- A fair and unbiased hearing
- The opportunity to appeal
Preparation is key. Always request evidence, review your contract and prepare your version of events.
Remember: A disciplinary hearing is not automatically a dismissal—it is a process to determine facts.

Membership Update
Legal Policy Premium Adjustments
From 1 July 2026, your monthly premium will increase.
We understand that any change to your premium matters and we want to be open about why this adjustment is necessary.
Over time, the cost of legal services continues to increase. This includes attorney fees, court-related expenses and the cost of maintaining a strong and reliable network of legal professionals across Namibia. To ensure that you continue to receive consistent, high-quality legal support, we need to make careful adjustments like this from time to time.
What this means for you is simple.
You will continue to have access to affordable legal advice, professional representation and ongoing support when you need it most. These are the services that make a real difference when something goes wrong—and they are the reason LegalWise Namibia exists.
We’ve worked hard to keep this increase as low as possible, while still maintaining the level of service you rely on.
